Prerequisites for Jazz Camp

  • Instrumentalists who attend this year's Jazz Camp must be able to play, at least, the following 5 scales well without music: C, F,Bb, G, and D.
  • Vocalists must be able to match pitch and have a love of singing.
  • Drummers will be placed in a Jazz Camp section appropriate to their ability. Additionally, click here for some great information for drummers.
  • Bassists will be placed in a Jazz Camp section appropriate to their ability.

  • All Attendees should:
    • Devote time to listen to music. It is important to familiarize yourself with the jazz tradition if you are not already.

If you don't feel you'll be able to meet these requirements by the time Jazz Camp starts you might consider attending Junior Jazz Camp, or taking some private lessons.
