Sunday, March 21 Open up your Voice
with the Alexander Technique
Workshop for Singers with Nora Nausbaum
 |
Alexander Technique is an excellent way to open up your voice, be more comfortable, have the sound you envision, deepen your breathing -- for singing or speaking.
When: Sunday, March 21
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Where: S. Auburn St., Grass Valley
(call for street address)
Cost: $30. |
Workshop will include these ideas to help your voice:
- De-compressing your cervical spine which directly affects voice production
- Increasing awareness of your body tension while singing
- Creating a more resonant tone through indirect means
- Understanding the vocal apparatus
- Shifting your standing balance
- Feeling the connection between your voice and the rest of you
In this class, we’ll observe and begin to change habits that contract and compress— your spine, your vocal mechanism, your breathing. To help you begin, you’ll be asked to observe yourself kinesthetically. We’ll shift the focus from the music, to YOU. This often has startlingly happy results. You won’t be singing tunes, just long-held tones, so you can focus on how you are producing a sound.
Please call me at 273-5489 or email Nora@bachtobebop.com to let me know if you are interested and I’ll give you the street address and directions. Please bring 3 paperback books to class (not what you may think). If you have any questions, please contact me.
